On Sunday, November 27th from 8AM to 6PM, the Toronto Raptors and BridgeTO Youth invite you to “BridgeTO Hacks: Raptors Hackathon, a full-day hands-on learning experience and design challenge at Toronto’s one-of-a-kind hub for youth sports: the MLSE Launchpad! Participants will have the opportunity to engage in an inspiring and unique learning journey that will explore the fundamentals of data science, UX, and product design.

Students will learn from and engage with Raptors front office staff as well as product designers and strategy experts from Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment who will share their experiences to inspire youth about the application of STEM in sports.

Students will solve two real-life challenges related to the Toronto Raptors, one focusing on team performance on the court and the other one relating to the Raptors fan experience. Both challenges are based on data and what students will learn from instructors and mentors throughout the day. Students will work in groups competing for prizes while getting a sneak peek into the world of sports and the Raptors universe!

No previous coding or STEM experience is required! 

 

WHO Can Register?

All TDSB grade 10 - 12 students that demonstrate financial need are welcome to register

WHEN Is the Event?

Sunday, November 27th, 2022 from 8AM - 6PM
Breakfast, Lunch and Snacks will be provided

WHERE Is the Event?

MLSE Launchpad at 259 Jarvis St in Toronto
Transportation will be available at specific pick up spots

WHY Are We Doing This?

To inspire youth in under-served communities about STEM and expose them to MLSE Digital Labs, the nexus of technology and sports & entertainment.

To build on MLSE and the Raptors’ commitment & investment in equity, diversity, inclusion by actively engaging underrepresented communities
